A Gainesville seafood shanty has closed its doors this week because of the threat of the coronavirus.
The Gainesville Shanty, located at 1110 N. Main St., will close on March 16, the first day of the season.
Gainesville officials are trying to find a new home for the shanty, but don’t have an exact address for it.
The Shanty is a popular local seafood spot that serves seafood on Saturdays and Sundays.
They have also had their business for the last few years in the basement of a house owned by the Gainesville Police Department.GPS data from the University of Georgia shows the shanties location is about 45 minutes north of downtown Gainesville.
